Division of Adult Psychiatry

Humane and effective care and treatment for Mississippians who have mental illness, including substance abuse, depends on the education of the next generation of mental health professionals and research leading to a better understanding of the inner workings of the mind.

Modern and innovative approaches are used in the training of medical students, resident physicians and graduate students at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. Faculty members in the Division of Adult Psychiatry are known for their skills as teachers, and the internship program is widely regarded as one of the best in the country. Giving medical students a solid foundation in psychiatry and providing residents and graduate student trainees with the best possible learning environment are our goals.
